The Secret EP intro

We recorded and mixed 25 songs between April 2020 and May 2021 but had to make the difficult choice of which ones would go on Venus Chariot (15 songs) and which would be put aside. It is always difficult to ostracize some of your creations so when Christian gave us the go-ahead for an additional EP (another 5 songs that became 6), we were over the moon.

The awesome Krischan Jan-Eric Wesenberg (from the wonderful band “Rotersand”) had made a skeleton remix of “Watch Out!” with a beautiful piano circling around Emileigh’s voice and it pushed us to create more pieces similar in (apparent) simplicity and aural nakedness: “You Go To My Head”, the beautiful classic jazz song by Gillespie Haven and Coots J Fred, was to follow.
“My Headphones” intention was to use country music instruments and make them collide with a (tentatively) Paisley Park’s chorus but the magic moment probably comes at the tail of the song where we all get propelled down a rabbit hole equipped with a Fender Rhodes.
“I’ve Got Glitter on my Hands” was initially to be on Venus Chariot but it got placed here as its trip-hop meets disco strings makes it shine better.
“It’s All So Strange” is an escapade in a quasi-Tim Burton world with its circus atmosphere that could be a fine soundtrack within “Big Fish”.
“Cry” is a cover of Jon Batiste’s song that went AWOL. And we like it this way.

All vocals were recorded by Emileigh at The MausHaus while Jean-Marc mixed all the tracks at the studio “Tomorrow’s sound ? Tomorrow!”.

All tracks by Emileigh Rohn/Jean-Marc Lederman except:

“You Go To My Head” by Gillespie Haven and Coots J Fred.
“Cry” by Jon Batiste/Steve McEwan.
